Study: Thirty years later – East and West split over German unification

Last year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of German reunification. To this day people from the East and the West – with or without migration background – have very different views on this historical event and a unified Germany. It is these differences, as well as what unites people in Germany, that our study „Thirty years of German unity: Social cohesion in a united Germany“ was devoted to. The study was carried out by Matthias Hartl and Jana Faus of pollytix on behalf of Dr. Kai Unzicker and the Bertelsmann Stiftung.

The results are now available as an English-language summary.
